Living as Teachers in Honduras

Currently, Alex and I are living in the small town of San Marcos in the department of Ocotepeque in Honduras. We arrived here in late August 2010 and plan on staying until at least June 2011.

We came upon a job opportunity one night in July 2010; the request was for three teachers to work in a private bilingual school in Honduras. We emailed inquiring and one month later, once all of our financial business was taken care of, we left.

The school is called Green Valley, and it's said to be one of the best bilingual schools in the area. We teach children from preschool up to 9th grade, though high school may be an option in the following years.

Alex teaches English and math to 7th through 9th grades.
I am teaching health and science to 7th through 9th grades, and phonics and reading to 3rd, 4th, and 6th grades.

We find this work challenging, especially since the educational system here is much different than the United States', though we do enjoy it.
